Alex Mann, the teenage rap fan who set social media alight with his performance of Dave’s track Thiago Silva at Glastonbury yesterday afternoon, is set to receive a personal phone call from the centre-back.
The tune – named in honour of the Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain football player – was about to be performed by Dave during his set on Sunday, when he asked the audience: “Who is sober enough to sing these lyrics with me?”
Alex, resplendent in his PSG shirt with Silva’s name on the back, eventually managed to get Dave’s attention, with the rap artist replying: “I see a PSG shirt over there, but do you know the lyrics?
“He looks like he knows the lyrics … Yeah, let’s take a chance.”
And Alex, who is only 15, will be forever grateful that he was given that chance, as the BBC clip of him blasting out verse after verse has now been viewed millions of times on social media.
The man the tune is all about, Silva, has acknowledged the clip on Twitter but Alex has revealed he and the Brazil defender are about to get to know each other a whole lot better.
Speaking via the Guardian, the teenager explained how a call between the two has been arranged after receiving a message from Silva, despite the centre-back preparing for a mouthwatering showdown in the Copa America semi-final against Argentina on Wednesday.
Alex explained: “I haven’t spoken to him yet, but we’re in different time zones.
“I’m not really sure what I will say to him.
“I really like him as a player, so I’ll probably just say that.”
Personally, we loved the clip, and that’ll be a moment Alex definitely won’t forget in a hurry. We’re just anxious to know what Silva says in the call, to be honest!
