FAST FORWARD

After the excitement of the last two weeks where we have seen major announcements about fights on, fights off in a few moves that would have made Mr Miyagi proud, and then the move from Sky TV to DAZN, and the festival of fighting in Las Vegas that has a circus ring at its centre, there is a lot going on…

But for this weekend, aside from what may or not be happening with one Paul fighting a Mayweather, we have the return of heavyweight Dynamite Daniel Dubois. Tonight, on Saturday the 5th of June, in Telford, he takes on Bogdan Dinu. In a return to the ring for Dubois they are fighting for the interim WBA world title. This is a true test after the eye injury from his defeat to Joe Joyce. Dubois, though, has to show two things. Firstly, he is not gun shy after the horrific injury and also that he can demonstrate that he has learnt from that defeat. In short he needs to show new skills. I am convinced he shall show he has the skills to make it at this level, but the real unknown is will he be able to put that shocking injury behind him. Time is ticking and waiting to tell…

Also on the card is the return of Tommy Fury at light heavyweight and he faces Jordan Grant, who is also an unbeaten novice fighter. This looks like a tough and true test on paper, but the Fury name brings with it steal and determination in abundance, and I reckon we shall see another Fury hand raised in the ring afterwards.

Back in the Sheffield Car Park, tonight there is an 8 fight card with a decent headliner as super bantamweights Marc Leach and Thomas Essomba square off against each other. I fancy this to be quite a decent fight and provide some headlines.

Over in Magdeburg, Germany we have heavyweights Agit Kabayel and Kevin Johnson arein a ring together for the WBA continental title. No doubt Kabayel is the favourite.

Finally, on Friday the 11th of June, back in Sheffield we have another 8 fight card with the Commonwealth title fight at light flyweight, between Matt Windle and Neil McCubbin at its summit. Who knew you could have so much fun in a car park in Sheffield? I am off to get the popcorn…
